I bought $1k of the Top 10 Cryptos on January 1st, 2018 (Jan Update/Month 37)

EXPERIMENT - Tracking 2018 Top Ten Cryptocurrencies – Month 37 - Down -25%
The full blog post with all the tables is here.
Welcome all, especially newbs, to the OG Top Ten Crypto Currency Experiment!
tl;dr
  • MOON USE CASE: besides crypto, I do other things, like eat, take long walks on the beach, and listen to music. 90 Moons to the first person to name the artist and title of the hidden song in this post. That's worth over $5 (90\.059) at the moment!* Go get yourself a shiny new CryptoCurrency special membership whydontcha?
  • What's this all about? I purchased $100 of each of Top 10 Cryptos in Jan. 2018, haven't sold or traded, reporting monthly for over three often very panful years. Did the same in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Learn more about the history and rules of the Experiments here.
  • January - XLM and ADA dominate. Litecoin can't keep up with the field and Dash is falling likea rock. Another ATH month for the S&P.
  • Overall since Jan. 2018 - XLM joins ETH and 2018 leader BTC in the green. 2018 portfolio is down -25% since Jan. 1st, 2018, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Really.
  • 2018+2019+2020+2021 Combined Top Ten Portfolios are returning 127%.

Month Thirty Seven – Down 25%

2018 Top Ten Summary - Year Three of the Index Fund Experiment
After a more mixed December the 2018 Top Ten Portfolio bounced back nicely, finishing the first month of 2021 completely in the green. Led by Stellar and Cardano, the 2018 Top Ten are closing in on break even point, now only down -25% as of this report. Speaking of Stellar, it joins Bitcoin and Ethereum as one of only three cryptos to have at least broken even since January 1st, 2018. Cardano and Litecoin seemed to be next in line.

Question of the month month: CryptoCurrency added approximately how many new members in January 2021?

A) 225,000
B) 500,000
C) One for every recycled meme
D) One for every Elon Musk mention
Scroll down for the answer.

January Ranking, Movement Report, and Dropouts

Despite a strong month overall, most of the movement in January was downward except for Cardano (up two spots to #6) and Stellar (up four spots to #11).
All other cryptos either held ground or fell: NEM slipped two to #20, Litecoin fell three slots to #8, and BCH fell three places and is now in danger of dropping out of the Top Ten.
And Dash, man, is having a rough couple of months. After falling six spots and out of the Top Thirty last month, Dash dropped an additional eleven places in January and is now out of the Top Forty.
Dash - first crypto of any Experiment year to sink below #40
Top Ten dropouts since January 2018: After thirty seven of the 2018 Top Ten Experiment, 40% of the cryptos that started in the Top Ten have dropped out. NEM, Dash, IOTA, and Stellar have been replaced by Binance Coin, Tether, LINK, and most recently, DOT.
Interestingly, even with different players, this is the same dropout rate (40%) as the 2019 Top Ten Portfolio. And the 2020 Top Ten Experiment group has performed only marginally better (70% remaining/30% dropout rate). One month in, the 2021 Top Ten Cryptos remain locked in place.
For trivia night: Ethereum is the only Top Ten crypto that has climbed in rank since January 2018.

January Winners and Losers

January Winners – Gaining +139% and picking up four places in the rankings, Stellar dominated January. Cardano also performed extremely well, up +126% in one month.
January Losers – The L goes to Litecoin this month. While finishing in the green, its +5% gain underperformed the field. Second worst performer was Dash, gaining +6% and falling eleven places in the rankings.

Tally of Monthly Winners and Losers

After thirty seven months, the table below gives a good sense of the winners and losers over the life of the 2018 Top Ten Experiment.
https://preview.redd.it/thj70zn1kgg61.png?width=429&format=png&auto=webp&s=e853aa46f506836b77aa48f1070644e00fd5186a
Bitcoin is clearly dominant with the most monthly wins (10). A bit less obvious, Cardano has the second most victories, amassing 6 monthly wins in just over three years. NEM has lost 8 months, the most out of the 2018 Top Ten Cryptos. And Bitcoin is unique as the only cryptocurrency that hasn’t lost a month yet since January 2018 (although it has come close a couple of times).

Overall Update – BTC, ETH, and XLM only cryptos in green, overall portfolio breaks -25%, and Dash in last place.

Welcome to the green, XLM!
The 2018 Top Ten portfolio as a whole? Down -25% since January 2018.
But! But things are starting to move very quickly with the 2018 Top Ten. Over the last few months, the entire portfolio has been rapidly approaching break even point: the 2018 Top Ten were down -75% November 1st, then -50% January 1st, now -25% on February 1st.
At this rate we will (hopefully, finally) get back to break-even point in the next few months after over three years of waiting.
This long awaited progress is thanks mainly to BTC (+155%) and ETH (+89%) gains since January 2018.
XLM has now joined the 2018 break-even club. It seems like the next two dominos to fall are ADA and Litecoin, but we’ll have to see.
-25% is another psychologically important milestone for 2018 Top Ten Portfolio and represents the second highest overall return since the Experiment began. Only the very first update reported less of a loss (-20%).
Check out the Monthly ROI a few tables below for a bird’s eye view of the 2018 Top Ten ROI journey. Spoiler alert: it’s been mostly painful, until recently.
At the bottom are a couple of cryptos that have lost nearly 90% of their value since January 2018: Dash is down -89% and IOTA has lost -88% over the life of the experiment. The initial $100 invested in Dash thirty seven months ago is worth $10.35 today.

Total Market Cap for the entire cryptocurrency sector:

A trilly a trilly a trilly a trilly!
Ah, that’s a pretty picture: for the first time ever, the entire crypto market cap finished a month over the $1 trillion (with a T) mark.
The total crypto market cap added $232B in January. For the third month in a row this represents a higher level than when the 2018 Experiment started three years ago. Up +75% since January 2018, it is now crushing the 41% return of the S&P over the same time period. Much more on that below.

Bitcoin dominance:

After finishing 2020 way up at 70.4% (barely below the Experiment record level of 70.5% in September 2019), BitDom came back down to earth a bit, finishing the first month of 2021 at 62.2%. If you’re new to the space, Bitcoin Dominance is a helpful figure to keep your eye on: a falling BitDom percentage means Alts are ascendant.
For context, since the beginning of the experiment, the range of Bitcoin dominance has been very wide: from the current 70% high to a low of 33% in the first month of the 2018 Experiment.

Overall return on $1,000 investment since January 1st, 2018:

Almost...there (stay on target). Almost...there...
The 2018 Top Ten Portfolio gained about $235 bucks (+24%) in January, by far one of the strongest months since the Experiment began thirty-seven months ago. You’d have to go back to April 2018 (+26%) to find a better month-end gain.
If I decided to pull the plug on the 2018 Top Ten Experiment today, the $1000 initial investment would return about $748, down -25% from January 2018.
If you’re just joining, you might find it hard to believe that I feel fantastic about being down only -25% after over three years of running the 2018 Top Ten Experiment. But take a look at the trajectory:
  • November 1st, 2020: down -75%
  • January 1st, 2021: down -49%
  • February 1st, 2021: down -25%
Breaking even and even profiting on this portfolio now seems inevitable. Just a matter of when, not if.
This confidence is not characteristic of most of this journey. The road has been long and oftentimes seemed hopeless. Here’s a look at the ROI over the life of the experiment, month by month, over the last three+ years:
ROI summary = 37 months of red
Check out the absolute bottom, back in January 2019 when the 2018 Top Ten Portfolio was down -88%.
For those just entering the space, hopefully this gives you some perspective as you start your crypto journey.

Combining the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Top Ten Crypto Portfolios

So the 2018 Top Ten Crypto Portfolio is on its way up, but still down -25%. After investing another $1000 in the Top Ten in 2019 and 2020 (and just recently, again for 2021!), how are the other Experiments holding up? Let’s take a look:
So overall? Taking the four portfolios together, here’s the bottom bottom bottom bottom line:
After a $4000 investment in the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Top Ten Cryptocurrencies, the combined portfolios are worth $9,079 ($748+ $3,595 +$3,227+$1,509).
That’s up +127% on the combined portfolios.
Here’s a table to help visualize:
https://preview.redd.it/alqqm76pkgg61.png?width=514&format=png&auto=webp&s=415065670cdd4c2d2b6fe8948ce6e671d0fee56f
That’s an +127% gain by investing $1k on whichever cryptos happened to be in the Top Ten on January 1st for four straight years. This is the highest ROI since I started tracking this metric last year.

Top Ten Approach vs. All-In Approach

But surely I would have done even better if I went all in on one crypto, right?
Depends on your choice! Let’s take a look.
I can’t do this for all 8,413 cryptocurrencies, but there are five cryptos have begun each of the last four years in the Top Ten: BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, and LTC. Which one would have returned the most if I didn’t go for an Index approach?
Even the worst performer of the 4 year club outperforms the S&P
Since I started tracking this metric a few months ago, there’s been a bit of a back and forth between Bitcoin and Ethereum. This month?
ETH, on top, by a landslide. $4,000 into Ethereum in $1k chunks once a year would now be worth a staggering $24,645. That’s up +722%.
In second place, going all in on Bitcoin with $4,000 USD would have yielded +482%, turning the initial investment into $17,450.
XRP, would have been the worst four year all-in bet, at +57%. But even that is more than double the return from traditional markets (more on that below).
And the Top Ten Index Fund approach?
As you might expect, as indexes are designed to mitigate risk, the +127% gains of the Top Ten Index Fund approach fall somewhere in between. The Top Ten strategy isn’t keeping up with ETH, BTC, or LTC, but it is outperforming a hypothetical all-in investment in both XRP and BCH by a healthy margin.

Comparison to S&P 500:

I’m also tracking the S&P 500 as part of the experiment to have a comparison point with other popular investments options. The S&P 500 Index stalled a bit in January, but is still near all time high levels. It is up +41% since January 2018.
The initial $1k investment into crypto on January 1st, 2018 would have been worth about $1410 had it been redirected to the S&P. That holds up very well compared to the $748 return of the 2018 Top Ten Crypto Index Fund.
But what if I took the same invest-$1,000-on-January-1st-of-each-year approach with the S&P 500 that I’ve been documenting through the Top Ten Crypto Experiments? What I like to call the world’s slowest dollar cost averaging method?
Here are the numbers:
  • $1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2018 = $1410 today
  • $1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2019 = $1510 today
  • $1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2020 = $1170 today
  • $1000 investment in S&P 500 on January 1st, 2021 = $1005 today
Taken together, here’s the bottom bottom bottom bottom line for a similar approach with the S&P:
After four $1,000 investments into an S&P 500 index fund in January 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, my portfolio would be worth $5,095.
That is up +27% since January 2018 compared to a +127% gain of the combined Top Ten Crypto Experiment Portfolios, a difference of 100 percentage points in favor of crypto.
You can compare against five individual coins (BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, and LTC) by using the table above if you want.
The key takeaway?
Using a similar investing strategy, the S&P 500 is currently underperforming XRP, Bitcoin Cash, BTC, ETH, LTC and the 2018 Top Ten Portfolio approach.
Here’s a table summarizing the four year ROI comparison between a Top Ten Crypto approach and the S&P as per the rules of the Top Ten Experiments:
That's a nice, big gap, crypto
The momentum is clearly on crypto’s side and the 100% gap is the largest since I’ve been tracking this metric, even with stocks at all time highs.

Conclusion:

Despite some GameStop and Doge distractions (or maybe because of them?) the 2018 Top Ten had an extremely strong start to 2021, especially compared to traditional markets. Getting back to -25% feels like a milestone, something that seemed impossible only a few months ago.
It was great to see Stellar join Bitcoin and Ethereum in the green this month. Hopefully some of the other cryptos will be able to claw themselves back up to break-even point and beyond. 2021 is off to a strong start, it should be a very interesting year for crypto.
To both new and long time Experiment followers: thanks so much for reading and for supporting the project, I hope you’ve found them helpful. I continue to be committed to seeing this process through and reporting along the way.
Feel free to reach out with any questions and stay tuned for progress reports. Keep an eye out for my parallel projects where I repeat the experiment, purchasing another $1000 ($100 each) of new sets of Top Ten cryptos as of January 1st, 2019, January 1st, 2020, and most recently, January 1st, 2021.
For those just getting into crypto, welcome! I hope these reports can somehow help you see the highs and lows of what might await you on your crypto adventures. Buckle up, think long term, don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose, and most importantly, enjoy the ride!

And the Answer is…

A) 225,000 (and probably C and D too, but harder to measure) ;)
According to https://subredditstats.com/, CryptoCurrency began January 1st, 2021 with 1.175 million members and began Feb 1st, with approximately 1.4 million members!
Go cc and welcome newbs!

** IMPORTANT REMINDER TO BIND YOUR ACCOUNT **

JP players can bind via binding code or Twitter account; EN players can bind via Twitter account, Facebook account or Yostar account. These options are in Settings.

Use at least one account bind option; use multiple if you want to be safe. If your device is lost, damaged, or a game update breaks the app and forces you to reinstall you could permanently lose your account. EN accounts are easiest to recover with an account bind; make sure to bind your account in the settings and only use the login screen binding buttons to reconnect your account. Using the login screen buttons without a bound account will create a new account for you and effectively erase your progress with no way of recovering it outside of contacting customer support. JUST DO IT.
NOTE: It's also a good idea to remember your server and take a screenshot of your resume so that customer support has an easier time recovering your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I reroll? How do I do it?
No. There are a few reasons for this:
Is X ship good?
Take a look at this gallery that shows good, permanently available ships or this tier list for a general indication of any ship's power. For research ships there's also a list showing off how useful they are depending on their development level.
All ships are usable with proper development; just know that some ships/compositions are far less viable in later Worlds.
Should I be spamming Construction or saving cubes?
Saving cubes is crucial as you'll want a large stockpile of them to attempt limited constructions that appear during events. Outside of events, spend 1 cube per day (4 on Sunday) to satisfy the daily build mission; in doing so you'll complete the weekly mission which gives 6 cubes.
However, players starting out should spam construction for the first 2 or 3 days in order to expand their options for fleet setups.
Should I keep duplicate ships?
I'm struggling on X stage, what should I do?
How should I set up my fleet?

Main Fleet (Backline)
Aircraft Carriers (CV, CVL) - Clears the screen of enemy projectiles and weaker ships; Airspace Control Value (ACV) improves damage dealt by your carriers and reduces hostile encounters.
Battleships, Battlecruisers (BB, BC, BBV, BM) - Concentrated damage better suited for high-value targets; secondary gun protects backline from suicide ships.
Vanguard Fleet (Frontline)
Destroyers (DD) - Cheap; low gun damage with high-damage torpedoes; high evasion with poor armor and HP; speeds up your fleet and helps avoid ambushes.
Light Cruisers (CL) - Balanced stats with high anti-air capability.
Heavy Cruisers (CA, CB) - Expensive; high damage and/or large HP pool; some utility.
For the frontline position put your tankiest ship on the left and second tankiest on the right; for the backline try to have your strongest ship in the middle (flagship) position; battleships with a barrage skill should be in the center because it greatly improves their aim.
Make sure that your support (yellow) skills are useful to the rest of the fleet; most only affect certain class, nationality or weapon types and often don’t stack.
While at the beginning it doesn't matter - in fact you'd be better off using both of your fleets equally to level them up - your two fleets should eventually be split up into a mob-killer fleet and boss-killer fleet; the mob-killer fleet sacrifices firepower for sustain so use (self-)healing ships to survive the 4-7 fights needed to summon the boss for the boss-killer fleet.
When should I Limit Break?
This depends on your playstyle; Limit Breaking increases a ship's stats and capabilities at the price of increased Oil costs. Therefore:
These guidelines only apply to your main use fleets; farming fleets will have a different approach as explained in the next question.
NOTE: Regardless of your playstyle, Limit Break when your ships are approaching level cap (70/80/90) to avoid losing XP.
What are good fleets to use for farming?
Farming fleets are designed to clear stages with as little fuel use as possible. Therefore:
Popular vanguard ships: Phoenix, Leander, Cassin, Downes, Fletcher DDs Popular main fleet ships: Erebus, Terror, Nelson, Rodney, Tirpitz, Duke of York, Yorktown
For high-level farming add healers (Akashi, Vestal, Unicorn, Shouhou, Ryuuhou, Arizona) and a strong boss-killer fleet.
When farming for gear blueprints/ships/event points, is it better to full clear a stage or just clear enough mobs until the boss spawns?
Except when getting the third star on a map, you should always go for the boss as soon as it spawns. Only the boss fleet and event elites can drop SR gear blueprints, and the boss has a chance to drop two. Only boss fleets can drop SR ships/boss-only ships, and clearing the boss fleet with an S-rank guarantees a ship drop. Killing the boss fleet is what gives points (specialized cores, core data, event points, etc.); the amount of points is bound to the map, not to the amount of mobs killed.
What should I be equipping?
You can try following these guides. Otherwise, use what you have.
How do I get more Oil?
Oil in Azur Lane is equivalent to stamina in most mobile games; your Canteen generates Oil and you can get more from mission/commission rewards. If you run dry consider running less ships in your fleets, running ships with lower rarity/fewer limit breaks and taking a break.
How do I get Coins?
Aside from generation via the Merchant, large coin drops come from Daily Raids and the 8-10 hour commission (costs 800+ fuel). A popular method is farming map 7-2 until all the "?" nodes appear, collecting the nodes and retreating.
What should I spend Gems on?
Priority list:
Spending Gems on anything not listed here isn't recommended (ESPECIALLY Oil/Gold). However, it's mostly personal preference.
What should I spend Medals of Honor on?
Buy the featured SSR if you want heneed a duplicate for limit breaking. Otherwise, solid purchases are gold and purple Bulins (if needed), T3 Skillbooks, T2 Retrofit Blueprints (T3 if needed), PR Blueprints and Dorm food; anything else isn't recommended though your needs may vary.
What are Retrofit Blueprints? How do I use them?
Retrofit Blueprints are used in retrofitting and consumed in the Retrofit tree found in ship details. Note that not all ships have a retrofit. It's recommended to save your blueprints and only retrofit ships you plan on using as higher tier blueprints can be hard to come by.
What is the best use of Core Data?
You'll want several Oxytorps and Black/White shells, the F4U Corsairs) are currently the best fighters in the game. Other useful items include Fairey Swordfish 818) which slow enemies on hit and the Homing Beacon for synchronizing airstrikes. The Seal of the Four Gods, improves Anshan class ships but otherwise is not worth buying.
All of the ships currently in the core shop are obtainable through war archives and/or aren't useful to a new player.
Why can't I rank up past Captain?
For Rear Admiral Lower Half and higher in addition to meeting the rank score requirement you must be high enough on the player leaderboards to rank up. For Rear Admiral Lower Half that means you need to be in the top 1000; all ranks and thresholds can be found here.
When is the daily/weekly reset?
[EN] Daily reset is at midnight PDT; weekly reset is Sunday at midnight PDT.
How to get Akashi?
Tap on her 30 times in the shop menu to get started. And you might want to hold on to 10 purple and 5 gold Sakura tech packs.
How do I unlock the last few memories in X event?
After clearing B3/D3/the last of the non-EX stage of the event, try beating it a few more times.
How do I earn Tech Points?
Tech Points are gained by obtaining, max limit breaking and max levelling (level 120) ships. You can see how many points each ship will give you in the Lab > Fleet Tech tab. As a rule of thumb big ships such as CVs or BBs will give you more tech points than little ships regardless of rarity. MLBing a ship gives you the largest amount of points out of the 3 step process; PR1 ships requirements are generally easier to meet than PR2/PR3 ships' fleet tech thresholds.
How do I earn experience for research ships?
PR EXP is only earned through oil-consuming PvE content (& Operation Siren) with the ships specified under the EXP objectives in the Shipyard. PvP matches, Dorm EXP, Lecture EXP and commissions do not count. The EXP goals are rather large; be prepared for a long grind. Ships who are at an EXP/level cap (i.e. 70/80/90/100~120 depending on limit break, cognitive awakening or EXP hard cap) will still contribute EXP to PR EXP objectives, even if it displays +0 EXP in the combat results.
What types of researches are best?
Here is the list for the best researches for earning PR blueprints. There is also a list for those who are looking to grind gear blueprints specifically. Note that PR ships are an endgame goal; investing cubes and coins into research projects early on will greatly impede your progress with little benefit so free researches are a better option while starting out.
What is the drop rate of X?
The only known drop rate is for Akagi & Kaga; each have a 0.75% chance to drop after defeating the boss of 3-4. No other drop rates are currently known.
Is X getting a rerun?
Most major events get a single rerun per region. You can check the Azur Lane Wiki to see if an event has already reran on your server's region. Reruns generally occur at least a year after the event's first debut; after the rerun is concluded ships from that event will slowly come to permanent construction pools. The exception to this rule are collaboration events which - so far - haven't seen any reruns due to licensing deals.
How do I get retrofit items for Sandy/Warspite/X?
UR retrofit item are acquired through limited-time events. They will have reruns, if you missed them you will have a chance to obtain them in the future. After having a rerun these items are permanently added to the prototype shop.
What is the next big event? Is there an event roadmap?
There is no known roadmap for any of the regions; big events are usually announced a week or two at most before the event itself is released.

[ENG] Kid Kizuna Teams Megathread

Apparently this isn’t a Team KK according to data downloads lol

Kizuna Kid
Welcome back to Team Kizuna. This will be the primary thread for team creation/preparation and will function the same way as the last time.
Here are the relevant dates for this Kizuna:

Free Agents:

If you're solo or a small group looking for teams please post in the "Free Agent" section or reply to someone in the "Teams” section.
Also, free agents consider reaching out amongst one another to make a team

IF YOU HAVE JOINED A TEAM ALREADY PLEASE MENTION THAT IN AN EDIT ON YOUR COMMENT SO OTHERS DON'T WASTE THEIR TIME

Teams:

If you already have a team and you need to fill out a few slots, please post in the "Teams" section, or reply to free agents in the corresponding section.

IF YOUR TEAM IS FULL PLEASE MENTION THAT IN AN EDIT ON YOUR COMMENT SO OTHERS DON'T WASTE THEIR TIME

Two other things to keep in mind:

If you wish to join a random team instead:

YOU HAVE TO VISIT THE WEBSITE THROUGH THE IN GAME LINK AT LEAST ONCE in order to be assigned a random team.
Otherwise, you will be TEAMLESS and will not be able to obtain any ranking rewards regardless of how many points you rack up. The last JP Team Kizuna had team creation extend into the event itself but we don't know if we will have that yet.

Detailed guide for 3F & 9F priority list - dated Feb 2021

Detailed guide for 3F & 9F priority list - dated Feb 2021

https://preview.redd.it/9jh54vddsmg61.jpg?width=703&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f410113b246a29f291162f0df3c7bce6087d26df
Hi everyone last time I've brought you the SI30 priority list, now I've received some PMs asking for furniture priority list too. Soo.. here is my guide on the furniture priority wishlist. Again my guide caters to beginners or monthly subscribers, whales can do whatever they want. Furniture can only be equipped to ascended characters so in some form of way this guide will also reveal my priority of ascending characters as well.
Let me set some expectations: 9F takes about 6 months of f2p pulling and that is if you don't have below average luck. So there are some heroes that you will want to put in at the start even if you don't have them ascended so that they will be ready when they are ascended in the midgame. My strategy is to always reserve 2 to 3 slots in the wishlists for 9F priority heroes because they take such a long time.
Early Game (when you just unlock the inn, priority to put them in your wishlist)
9F (priority, always keep these in your wishlist because they take very very long to get):
  • Ainz - definition of game changing 9F
  • Lucretia/ Talene - pick the one that you wanna ascend after twins. Don't put both unless you are a whale. Be patient with these cards they will pay off when you ascend lucretia or talene around chapter 30 to 31
3F (priority)
  1. Eironn - Ignore defence. Most OP
  2. Daimon - amplify 40% damage
  3. Skirath (aka chicken) - Most game changing furniture in the game. Enable the 5 pull team
  4. Tidus - increase healing, less likely to get cc-ed and increase atk. WOW
  5. Tasi - Teleport more, very good
  6. Lyca - 2 arrows are better than 1
  7. Rowan - Heal better and stats help him tank better in the frontline
  8. Farael - recently buffed. very very strong
  9. Gwen (higher priority in this list if you main her) - Gwen best waifu
Mid Game (after you finish the beginner priority list, should be around chapter 25 to 28 till chapter 32)
9F (Priority, put them in your wishlist because they take very very long to complete):
  • Izold (situational): if you are gonna run izold cheese team, then his 9F is an awesome investment for ultra dps and tanking. If not don't bother. Depends on AE meta, if izold becomes a meta in AE final boss again then more people should consider putting him in the wishlist.
  • Lyca - her 9F let her do double damage, as well as double defence break. Machine gun damage dealer
  • Grezhul - for boss content such as TR or AE, difference between diamond 1 and legend scores. And for top 50 guild to recruit you during AE. Although Grez will be ascended quite late in priority since there are too many GB heroes, you want him to have 9F when he is ascended
  • Lucretia/ Talene - the other one that you are gonna pull for in around chapter 32. Start preparing for her furniture now after you completed the above.

3F (Priority list)
  1. Twins (you should be close to ascending her if you ascend her on first priority
  2. Saurus - for the stats and better survival
  3. Thoran - (only if you plan to run thoran cheese) 3F is useful but SI30 is more important
  4. Silas - to buff izold (ignore if you don't run izold)
  5. Khazard (situational) - if and only if you prioritise khazard and ascend in for the 7x combat power khazard wilder team, then you have have have to give khazard 3F it's OP
  6. Albedo/ Ezio (situational) - if you run Ainz then give them 3F, if not don't even bother with them
  7. Nara - great team wide CC. Only priority if you are running her with daimon in your main campaign team
  8. Pippa - becomes an energy drainer when paired with tasi. Only priority if you are running the 7x combat power khazard wilder team
  9. Skreg - enable the invade comps. Mostly for mauler towers
  10. Roseline - for a bit more stuns. Looks good on paper but just ok in actual battle. I only put her in because I know everyone and their moms are gonna ask me why I didn't include her in the list.
End Game (After chapter 32, when you realise you have most of your relevant heroes with 3F. More for luxury heroes)
9F (Priority, put them in your wishlist because they take very very long to get):
  • Ferael - his 9F turns him into a debuff god, your enemies will be slowed so much they can hardly attack or move
  • Eziz (you should be close to ascending him after a year plus) - 3F is buffed to have previous 9F effects. 9F enable him to pull one more guy. Plus he needs all the stats for survival. Very worth it in my opinion.
  • Tasi - Even more teleporting. If you don't have anyone to put in your wishlist then her 9F furniture is still very strong
  • Skreg - 9F is a gamechanger but still skreg is still not widely used in campaign PVE or normal PVP. So if you have no one to put in your inn in the end game you won't regret taking him to 9F. Who knows if lilith will release an invade character that makes skreg meta?
  • Oden - His 9F makes him become OP energy drainer. The enemy team will not be able to cast any ulti because they won't have mana. Too bad he is a GB hero and there are too many better heroes to ascend before him. But I have faith in oden that one day he will be part of a super strong meta PVE team because the 9F effect is too strong to drain enemy energy. If that meta team emerges I'll shift his priority upwards
  • Eironn - main carry of many players all the way to chapter 31, his 9F is just 15% more damage but together with the stats might be worth it. Popular but luxury

3F (Priority list)
  1. Brutus - His invulnerability last for 10secs now. Quite important to protect Daimon for as long as possible
  2. Raine - of utmost importance in the TR meta. But considering people put raine 5th or 6th in heroes to ascend. I usually borrow from a friend with 3F raine and ignore ascending her till late game
  3. Arthur - to protect gwen or ainz. Also sounds good on paper but only protects a single hit. But one hit is better than nothing when you don't have any other heroes to put on the wishlist
  4. Satrana - very strong effect for anti-healing, but you should be ascending at least 5 other maulers before her

Whales/ Super End Game Players section:
9F (Priority, put them in your wishlist because they take very very long to get):
  • Rosaline - 9F makes her the second machine gun damager dealer after lyca. Recommended only if you use gwen team alot. User in comments section says her 9F is bugged and not as good as advertised. In addtion, sadly her presence in TR meta is slowly decreasing recently
  • Alna - 9F makes frontline teammate invulnerable for 9 secs. How OP is that. But most people put alna 4th or 5th in stargazing which makes sense to only pull for her furniture after chapter 33.
  • Orthros/ Zolrath - both celepogean for late game pvp (f2p should not put them into your wishlist because usually players only consider ascending them unless they are a whale or they have been playing the game for close to 2 years.
  • Zaphrael - Zaphrael with his paper thin survivability is really only OP when he get his 9F. Also mainly for pvp so f2p can just skip him
3F (Priority list)
  • Flora - 3F ability is great but most people will only ascend flora after 1.5 years
  • Estrilda - 3F is needed for TR evil sheep high scores. So you are getting her 3F strictly for that. Useful if you are running estrilda in gwen teams too, although estrilda is rarely used in gwen teams after chapter 34.
  • Shemira - Although a god in early game, her only relevance is TR evil sheep for high scores. So you are getting her 3F strictly for that

Now for the most important section. Here are 3 common mistakes that beginners make. Please avoid them.
  1. Placing early game characters into the wishlist: I know when you just unlock the inn, you only have like 3 characters ascended and you rush to quickly put them into the wishlist but please don't do this. Commonly some early game strong heroes such as Berlina, Shemira and Lucius will never be used in late game so it will be a waste to give them furnitures
  2. Also remember to take out the heroes that reached 3F so that you don't accidentally pulled a 4th furniture and waste your POE coins
  3. Take note of characters that has 5 or 6 furnitures that they do not have 3 furnitures already in any of the "small, mid or large" categories. You might pulled a 4th in a specific category and waste that furniture. It's recommended to use mythic cards to fill out the rest of the 9furnitures for 100% no duplicates.
You didn't mention them character xxx. What about their priority?
Ans: If I didn't mention them most likely they are either:
  • not meta (used in very very niche scenarios) or
  • their furniture sucks or
  • they are some celepogean that only whales will take to 9F or
  • I honestly forgot about them
If they are your favourite character and you are just raising them to 3F feel free to do so. But 9F will be a big investment please consider my priority list before engaging

**Conclusion:**I welcome any feedback to see if there's anything I'm mistaken or missed and will try to add them into the guide. Love this community so I decided to give something back to it. Hope this guide will help all beginners to mid game players with your furniture investments. I'll try to update this guide every 3 months to include new heroes that came out.

Edit after feedback:
  • moved eironn 9F priority to end game
  • removed daimon 9F priority (very luxury)
  • added estrilda 3F section
  • added rosaline 9F section
  • shifted authur 3F priority down
  • shifted lyca 9F priority up and ferael 9F priority down

[Standard] Jeskai Showdown of the Skalds

Welcome to Jeskai Skalds. This is an assertive midrange deck focused on capitalizing on the incredibly powerful saga: Showdown of the Skalds. The deck's primary plan is to apply early pressure and interaction while setting up for devastating combo-like turns with the second and third lore counters.
Performance:
I have currently piloted the deck to mythic #341 with a 74% win rate over 61 matches of BO3. It has felt like it has almost no weak matchups outside of maybe Rakdos yoink and sac decks. It performs well against pretty much every version of Yorion. It is strong against Gruul adventures with the caveat that they tend to run away with the game if you can't interact with their brushfire elementals. Strong against rogues. It is a coin flip in the mirror against other Showdown of the Skald decks like Naya and straight Boros. This is a link to the deck's stats on untapped.

Showdown of the Skalds
Showdown is the impetus for the deck. The card is of course incredibly strong by itself with any deck plan. However, there are a couple of ways to take its effects and turn them up to ten. This deck is looking to really capitalize on the second two lore counters through haste creatures & cheap spells.
The Haste Threats
Haste creatures in combination with showdown allow the deck to spend a lot less time on set up turns. It can allow the deck to generate game ending threats from an empty board which is especially important given the high quality of interaction and sweepers present in the format.
Robber of the Rich is the weaker of the two hasters. However, it still applies pressure if left unchecked so it tends to be a strong early play to eat up interaction from the opponent.
Sprite Dragon is where the money is at. It is the reason we are playing blue at all. The combination of its own counter ability and the Skalds trigger to add counters causes it to become an absolutely dominant threat. Sprite Dragons are often in the 5/5 to 10/10 range in this deck and can frequently kill in one to two hits.
Cheap Spells
The deck is playing more "low impact" spells than your average deck in standard. We are playing 4 Shocks, 4 Crash Throughs, and 2 Fight as One. The shocks are very rarely played now due to Bone Crusher Giant. These cheap spells, while not impressive on there, own synergize well with both Sprite Dragon and Showdown they allow us to almost always convert every card exiled with Showdown into actual cards and multiple counters when Sprite Dragon is on the board. Lets look at each choice:
Shock is by far the best instant/sorcery at one mana available in our colors. It actually gain a lot of equity because of Bone Crusher Giant. People are used to stomp replacing it so they rarely play around one red mana left up. In addition when you play 4 Shock and Four stomp you have a potential 16 points of burn in your deck which is no joke when you see so many cards from Showdown
Crash Through is the choice based on its ability to can trip. The deck would play Opt, but it puts too many restrictions on the mana base. There is some minor upside with the trample as creatures can get massive in this deck.
There are also two Fight as Ones in the deck as I have found the effect to be particularly potent at protecting Sprite Dragon. In addition the deck has a good spread of non-human and humans so it often finds both targets.
Adventures
We are still playing with Throne of Eldraine so we of course have access to the busted adventure creatures. They are additionally strong in this deck as they give you two spells to trigger Showdown. It also means that we get to play a creature weighted deck that still has 25 non-creature spells in it for Sprite Dragon.
Bone Crusher Giant I have already mentioned a couple of times but it is of course insane. At this point it doesn't need to be explained but, suffice it to say, this card completely slaps.
Giant Killer plays incredibly well in the deck as its creature half is reasonable and cheap which works with Skalds very well. In addition Chop Down is incredibly strong in the meta right now. Every red deck has at minimum four Bone Crusher Giants, every green deck is full of targets, and thanks to Yorion pretty much every blue and/or white deck has a playset of 4/5 fliers running around.
Shepherd of the Flock is the final adventure creature we play. It is played over Brazen Borrower both due to its superior synergy and the fact that it stresses the mana base less. Shepherd on the front side is an acceptable body that can deal damage and trade up with a few creatures. The real money is the additional spell which triggers Sprite Dragon, protects your threats, and most importantly can re-buy Showdown of the Skalds.
Skyclave Apparition is here as the deck's universal answer to most of the threats in Standard. It is an include on raw power and it of course doesn't hurt that it provides a body for Showdown counters.
The Mana Base & How to Deploy it
We are primarily a Boros deck. The only blue card in the main deck is Sprite Dragon. When deploying mana the deck wants to assemble in order of these priorities: one source of each color, two white for Skyclave Apparition, a weighting of lands toward red for combo/burn turns. This seems contradictory but it is pretty easy to assemble thanks to the Triome present in our colors. The rest of the mana base is composed of all of the available pathways and then a mix of temples that have blue and one of the other two colors. This allows the deck to get the one source of blue online while also progressing to steps two and three of the mana priorities.
Sideboard
Drannith Magistrate primarily hits four things: Adventure, Escape, Foretell, and Showdown of the Scald/Robber of the Rich type effects. If your opponent deck has 8 or more cards in these categories it can be a strong board in as it is a low effort way to pressure their resources. This is a good board in against Gruul Adventures, Izzet Flash, Rakdos Midrange, and Naya Adventures.
Glass Casket answers powerful three drops and creatures with three toughness that our main board shock effects can't hit. This is a good board in against Mono Green Variants, Gruul and Naya Adventures, Rogues, and White based aggro decks with Hallowblades.
Skyclave Apparition answers similar issues as Glass Casket while also being able to interact with certain flavors of Yorion profitably.
Disdainful Stroke is incredibly efficient at protecting you the turn before you are looking to have an insane skald turn. It can also buy an additional turn against a haymakers out of control and Yorion decks. This a good board in against pretty much every build of control and Yorion. It is also good against Izzet flash and strong on the draw against Gruul based decks to snag Questing Beast, Great Henge, and Vivien.
The Royal Scions converts your cheap creatures into scary threats while quickly building to an ultimate that tends to do about 7 damage to the face. Good against decks without many creatures and strong at snowballing while on the play. A good board in against Yorion, Control decks, and ramp decks.
Ox of Agonas is primarily targeted hate for rogues while it is mostly for the one matchup it improves the matchup so dramatically that it is worth the sideboard slots. It also can be boarded in as a one of in matchups against non-white decks that interact enough to fill your graveyard quickly.
Thanks for reading. Feel free to shoot me any thoughts or questions. This deck has been an absolute blast and I am legitimately curious if it will end up seeing more play. If I had to guess the advantage gained by adding blue might not be strong enough. I haven't played a straight Boros build yet to know for sure.

****The Real Laws of DEB****

Edit: These are great! Thanks to all contributors, past and future.
From a couple posts in today “Free talk Friday” post, I had an idea. It may be fun...
Following the format from this comment from u/elliewinks30, what are your thoughts?
*Law of Rare Items* - rare items will inevitably appear on the board with 2 seconds left and no hope of collecting before the round ends *Corollary* - itemt drops fine, but then stops on the second to the bottom row and then there are no more matches right there for the rest of the game and so it remains uncollectable. *Law of Rare items addendum* - should also include 2x items in events. Seems like I can play the last 25 seconds of a game with nary an item in sight, then boom, a 2x item with 2 seconds to go. *Another corollary to the law of rare items* - After a long and arduous effort to get the last of a rare item, within seconds of collecting it one or two more will pop up on the screen. Doubly so if you're not using a lucky emoji.
*Law of common items* - when you only need one more common item you will receive 50 of the ones you have completed first
*Law of Bonus time* - when finishing up bonus time after the round ends, the power ups remaining on the board will automatically swipe in the opposite direction of where you need them to.
*Law of Creating Stars* - Just as you trigger an emoji's power that removes emojis from the board, you notice where you could have made a star. You get to watch as the emoji's power blasts off the emojis, thus removing the possibility of a star.
*Law of Rainbow Falls* - Getting a Level 5 score at Level 1 and a Level 1 score at Level 5.
*Law of ‘Just one more game’* - When you can barely keep your eyes open any more, and suddenly win a 5 lives prize.
*Law of Missions* - Only after clearly the Daily Challenges or spinning the Prize Wheel will missions appear requiring these
*Law of “that one character”* - regardless of the type of mission, rest assured when the rng comes up it will be your worse emoji for that type of thing and all in one game to boot exaggerated example “score 70 million in one game with level one Jack Sparrow” or “use 9 stars+suns in one game with Mickey Mouse”
*Law of the Prize Wheel* - You will spin the wheel four times. Of those four times, you will land on 300 coins three.
*Law of star combinations* - When you need to make a staother, you will get 4 stars on the board, and you will not be able to get an item or other power-up next to said star, without destroying said star from maneuvering the board to get them next to each other in the first place.
*Law of unforeseeable cascades* - if you need an item/star, you will get 4 stars on the board. You will carefully make swaps so that if an item falls, it will be in the same column as one of your star. You will make a swap which sets off a cascade from new emoji drops, and an item will fall at least a column away from all four stars.
*Law of Item Sandwiches* - When you need a stastar combo, an item will inevitable sandwich itself between them.
*Law of Balloons* - you will never, ever remember to pop balloons on the screen the first time that mission comes up. You're lucky if you remember the 10th.
*Law of “House always wins”* - Las Vegas style slot machine. Where the odds are so greatly locked against you.
*Law of Spectacular Repeat* - every time you do something spectacular out of pure luck that you have no chance of repeating in this lifetime, the same feat will spawn as a mission immediately after.
*Law of multi-map events* - you struggle to get items or clears all the way up to the last box when you finally need only 2 to end the map. And you get 17.
*Laws of arbitrary color emoji* - Example: Score 10000000 with a yellow emoji. Okay, I just happened to use Gonzo for another mission and he counted, but I use King Candy, who has significantly MORE yellow and he doesn't count?
*Law of Missions* - You will instantly forget which mission you are trying to clear as soon as you hit play. Was it horizontal or vertical swaps? What were the combo items? Was it blitz mode or regular? Who knows??
*Second Law of Missions, corollary to law of balloons* - Despite specifically checking what the missions are before starting, you will often forget the details during the game. Was is just matching suns or only during blitz, horizontal or vertical, etc.? Every time this happens, you wish you could see the mission details if you pause and get annoyed that you can't.
*Law of the 3 Live Spin* - you will rack up 6-9 more lives when you don’t have time to keep playing but when you have zero lives and nothing to do you you’ll spin no lives
*Law of Lowering Proficiency* - on your 25th game a continuous cascade resulting in 3 rainbow stars, a sun and a score of 300,000 happens
*Law of frozen screen or glitch* - this only happens when you are having the game of your life. You’ll finish the combo mission, get the 3 items you’ve been needing and the game will freeze or never end, forcing you to quit, lose a life and have to start over.
*Law of being one short* - most commonly happens on a daily challenge. You’ll have under 5 to go, usually only 1 in order to complete a mission
*Law of conflicting emojis* - 1 to 3 of your missions will require different emojis, not allowing any multitasking. Most commonly happens during an event adding another element of conflict
*Law of spending diamonds* - You spend diamonds on a box hoping for a specific character and fail. Then you get the character you wanted for free when you complete an event map.
*Law of Villain Events* - You will collect an item before the Villain’s power triggers, but it won’t be credited in time and the villain will attack anyways.
*Law of Event Switching* - when you switch to a non-event emoji to complete a mission, when you switch back to an event emoji you will forget to turn the event back on and you will waste a life.

PR EXP is only earned through oil-consuming PvE content with the ships specified under the EXP objectives in the Shipyard.
